FireDaemon Pro/OEM v3.0 GA Build 2422 Released!

We are pleased to announce the release of FireDaemon Pro v3.0 GA Build 2422!

*ARE YOU UPGRADING? PLEASE READ THIS*

FireDaemon Pro v3.0 is *NOT*...

We are pleased to announce the release of FireDaemon Pro v3.0 GA Build 2422!

ARE YOU UPGRADING? PLEASE READ THIS

FireDaemon Pro v3.0 is NOT a free upgrade to v1.x customers. Your v1.9 serial key will not work with v3.0.

Here's the rationale: since 2002, FireDaemon Pro has been in continuous development. Over that time we have added many new features at the behest of customers. Further, we have been providing free upgrades and technical support to all customers since then. v3.0 marks a turning point for us with the introduction of a native 64-bit version. Whilst we would love to give this version away to pre-existing customers it's no longer financially viable for us to maintain this model. We hope you understand this.

Hence, the upgrade model is simple: if you have a maintenance contract or are a perpetual customer you will receive the upgrade for free. Otherwise, you can upgrade for 50% off the retail price. Once you get your upgrade key you will be able to install FireDaemon Pro over the top of your existing v1.9 installation.

>>>UPGRADE TO v3.0 NOW<<<

General Upgrade Notes and Going 64-bit

FireDaemon Pro v3.0 is available as a native 64-bit application. It will run 32-bit and 64-bit applications as a service on 64-bit Windows operating systems.

If you are upgrading from v1.9 to v3.0 on the same machine you need to be aware of the following during the upgrade process:

* The installer will stop your services. It has to, to complete the upgrade.
* You will receive a warning that your "security key" is invalid. You will have the opportunity to enter your v3.0 license key at this point
* If you choose to not enter a license key the following will occur:

1. FireDaemon Pro will revert to 30-day trial mode if you installed v1.9 in the last 30-days
2. FireDaemon Pro will DISABLE ITSELF if you installed v1.9 more than 30-days ago. Your services will be left in a stopped state and will not start. You will not be able to run the GUI. You must enter a license key to re-enable FireDaemon Pro v3.0.

* After you have entered your license key info and the GUI loads, your services may be in a stopped state. This will occur if you didn't provide a license key during the upgrade process or are upgraded from a 32-bit version of v1.9 to a 64-bit version of v3.0. The get your services running again, you need to edit each service and click Update. This is to update necessary registry settings with new registry and file system paths for the 64-bit version. Your service(s) should then start.

Otherwise, as always with new releases, please ensure your service configs are backed up and you have a rollback plan prior to upgrading (ie. a copy of the v1.9 installer). As mentioned, your services will be stopped and started during the installation process.
